If freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle of international law, don’t Venezuela, Russia and Iran have the same right?

  2. No mention of the joint attacks by the U.S. and Israel, and they only condemn Iran’s actions… I’m not surprised, but I am really disgusted.

„We condemn in the strongest terms recent attacks by Iran.“

Interesting none of them condemned the US for the Hundreds of innocent school children bombed to death.

For those interested, these are the only bits of this statement that actually matter in my opinion –

    >**We express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait. We welcome the commitment of nations who are engaging in preparatory planning.**

    >We welcome the International Energy Agency decision to authorise a coordinated release of strategic petroleum reserves. **We will take other steps to stabilise energy markets, including working with certain producing nations to increase output.**

    >**We will also work to provide support for the most affected nations**, including through the United Nations and the IFIs.

Everything else is essentially just complaining and words on paper.

About time…everyone is sick and tired of Iran using the Strait of Hormuz as a leverage to inflict economic pain on the whole world.

Interesting, was shipping disrupted before Iran was attacked to distract from the pedophile cabal coming to light?

Notice the lack of participation from the US in this announcement.

These major nations are setting the stage for their own convoys and naval escorts independently of the American umbrella and notably not under CENTCOM.

You are seeing parallel power structures building before your very eyes.

  8. It’s almost as if Iran isn’t blocking off the strait for no reason. I wonder why they started doing that. Is there a joint statement about that as well?

  9. From what I’m gathering from what people are saying is that other countries are planning to try to escort their own countries ships without participating in the conflict with the US perhaps in an attempt to not be targeted by Iranian ordnance.

I don’t particularly like we’re appeasing a regime like Iran but this whole war was a shit show from the start and never should have been the first option from the start.

Oh yeah this will do it. I’m sure the straight will open now.

  11. Trump closed the Straight. He can open it back up by withdrawing forces and admitting his mistake.

  12. How do you condemn Iran striking civilian facilities but not the other participants in the war? Guess Canada was right about the global rules-based order: Do as we say, not as we do. Silly, ESH.

  13. joncornelius on

So they condemn Iran for closing the strait but, they refuse to condemn to the US and Izzy for starting this war and continuing to bomb the shit out of Iran’s oil and military infrastructure.

  14. D3VIL3_ADVOCATE on

I dunno. I understand why Iran has closed this – it’s not good, but I don’t blame them. This is a lever at their disposal.

USA attacks them, and no one has done anything about it. So they’re like well F it all then. We’re getting attacked. This is disruption. And until America ceases its attacks, everyone will be disrupted.

We’re saying we condemn the de facto closure of the passage, but we haven’t said anything about us bombing the living crap out of them…

  15. When you treat your allies like shit and threaten to invade them, studies show they’re typically less likely to help you out.

  16. Word salad for telling the US to „get bent“, which is the appropriate response in any case.

Europe has been essentially isolationist for quite some time. They are concerned about Ukraine because it’s near their continent. Just look at how they are spending their own resources. More reactionary.

  18. Now we own the problem, and any issues that Trump see’s fit are our issue for X reason.

  19. neversayalways on

There’s an awful lot of reliance on the rule of international war in this statement.

Did I miss the other one where they call on the US to cease their illegal war?

  20. What a bunch of nothing statement, very disappointed this is what they chose to say instead of condemning the aggressors that are Israel and the US of this war.

Totally pandering up to get involved on the US/Israel side eventually I guess…

  21. No_Towel_2001 on

They blame Iran for closing the strait without acknowledging the war or the US at all? Doesn’t that seem stupid?

  22. That’s a good statement and we should continue to act like a unit in such cases.

  23. Reddit_and_forgeddit on

Stalling tactic to appease the big baby that started this mess. General Diplomacy 101.

  24. Right. So Iran, the country who didn’t start this war, needs to back down? They speak about international laws but don’t mention the States or Israel starting an illegal war on a lie. Condemnation is for the assholes who started this shit. The States and Israel. How many little girls did these asshats kill?

  25. The optics of having any western warship sunk in the straight is too much for any government to to risk. Hence why the orange man begged for help. He is unwilling for that disaster to be pinned on him.

There’s a real opportunity for the world to do something REALLY hilarious with renewables.

Imagine if this was the event that pushed the Sane world into moving more towards energy independence.

  27. FreshPrinceOfH on

Comments here are weird. Seems like Americans want us to fix their mistakes.

  28. Tall-Warning9319 on

Calling out Iran while ignoring the US and Israel—ya know, the fucks that started this war—is so wild and predictable. Cock sucking cowards.

  29. Pathetic. Trying to seem like you’re not supporting and not opposing the U.S. at the same time just makes you look completely impotent. They are under the thumb of the U.S. and are trying to convince their populations that they aren’t, so all these statements do is expose their sliminess AND subservience
