      With king Rump sitting at the head of our economy, it seems more likely that economic collapse will take place in ten months, not ten years.

      I think a great depression type event is extremely likely. I also think the billionaire class realize this and they are preparing to save themselves and buy up everything when it does.

      To achieve that, all Americans need to do is vote for idiots like Vance or Trump’s sons in the next presidential election. Then America’s economic—and moral—downfall will be a done deal.

      Oh that’s extremely likely. We have to immediately pivot to reducing the price of homes, ramping up social safety nets and we must have a plan for some kind of ubi. It’s not optional. If the AI plan that our corporations are pushing for works, it will spark mass unemployment never before seen. We will have a complete collapse of the lower rungs of society and violence and unrest will rip apart cities and communities.

      This is not hyperbole or fear mongering. This is what will happen.

      I think that the oligarchs are calibrating the uncertainty with fine precision…let the market drop 10 %, buy shares, let it go up 5%, sell shares, rinse and repeat.

      Soon, they will send us into a Depression so that they can buy up EVERYTHING else and put us in food lines for the next ten years as they blame US for wanting a bit of bread that isn’t moldy.

      The US has a very resilient economy. If the current administration would just stop goatfucking the entire world we would probably recover in a reasonable amount of time. But since we re living in a narcissistic tantrum we are more likely screwed for the next two decades.

      So if you think that this is going to happen, what are some preparation measures you can put in place that are less extreme than „dig bunker, fill with MREs, buy guns“? I don’t want to go full prepper because honestly if things go bad to that extent individual measures aren’t likely to be all that useful, but it’d be nice to hedge our bets at least a little.

      Hastened by current efforts. It’s possible that Trump, Bessent, etc. believe broad tariffs, tax cuts for the rich and military imperialism will make America great again. But it’s not going very well.

      That’s why I got solar and a battery. I have money now, no clue what I will have in the future, except I know I will be able to power my house. Anyone who is concerned about that stuff should put their money to work for them now to make improvements.

      Well, yeah. Any Republican of yore will tell you we can’t just print money. That seems to have changed somehow; I guess economics was woke.

      I have been saying for the last 2 years that we will see a Great Depression level event happen before 2030. From companies cutting jobs because of AI to COVID increasing the cost of living to the current administration screwing up the economy to favor the billionaires, it’s setting up everything to squeeze out everything they can for those up top before the total collapse and everyone in the bottom half are fucked
