Als ich zum Geburtstag meiner Nichte von meiner Heimatstadt nach Lusk radelte, bemerkte ich ein besonderes Detail auf dem Schild „Willkommen in Lusk“, das besagte, dass diese Stadt tatsächlich eine Partnerstadt mit Thorigné-Fouillard in Frankreich ist, und ich fragte mich: Hat Ihre Stadt auch eine eigene Zwillingsstadt?

Not that I’m a cynic or anything, but these twinnings only benefit councillors going on twinning visits/junkets and sign manufacturers.
Yes, Longford is twinned with Sparks, Nevada, US.
Ennis is twins with Phoenix (USA), Langenfeld (Germany) and Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet (France) – so technically quadruplets.
But none of those towns are twinned with each other. Which makes you wonder what on earth the parents were up to.
Live in Kerry, Killarney is a „twin“ town with 10 places, mostly for tourism purposes.
Rush is twinned with gourin in France and San Mauro castelverde Italy.

Weirdly enough 2 villages are twinned together near me.
Meelick & Meanus
Meelick is in Co Clare and Meanus in Co Limerick and they are only 25km apart but they are twinned
Dundalk & Reze (France)
Arklow has two, Cháteaudun and Aberystwyth. We are very popular abroad.
