      The AI lighting does not look natural. It looks like an early Dave Hill photo which were heavily processed to look hyper real. Not a fan of this studio look

      Thought this sounded kinda like clickbait but I watched the video in the article and it literally does make it look like AI slop.

      I am not as anti AI as a lot of people but I agree that the examples in the video often look nothing like what the designers wanted the characters to look like.

      I don’t know. The AI version adds a lot of details to faces, it lightens up the environment, add reflections to windows. It doesn’t seem like that much of a drastic change and adds a lot to it.

      This just in: a company that makes a stupid amount of money off of shitty AI companies (and also the worst humans of the planet, billionaires who created artificial GPU scarcity so they can increase GPU prices to anti consumer levels) wants to suck up to the shitty AI companies while abandoning the user base that made them successful

      The Coca-Cola commercials from a few years ago are an example of actual slop.

      This is not slop. It’s not perfect, but it’s a neat concept and far from slop.

      Stop calling -anything- that’s done with AI slop. It doesn’t make you sound cool or superior or on trend.

      I was searching for the words “AI slop” this Sunday ago. Just thought the words “AI slop”, especially “slop”, were funny enough to write on and search.

      There was barely anything on the Reddit search, unbeknownst to me that 2 days later an actual big AI slop was to happen.

      I like it, itll get better in the future for sure also. Its not really upscaling though so theyve gotta reel that ai „face“ back so it matches the original more.

      I’m definitely against AI slop but not all AI is slop.

      AI is too good of a technology to not be used in games eventually
      e.g. having NPC’s that can have improvised conversations with you

      I just want to see it used right

      I wanted something like this once i saw GTA V remodeled in „realtime“ using photos of gremany, when first AI videos started to surface and i think it would be a neat feature to just toggle on for shits and giggles eg. GTA SA or some other older game to make „auto-remaster“ like on YT videos. but its not DLSS.

      It looks phenomenal. Even the games artists have control of it. You have the option to turn it off or on and the videos we saw used 2 GPUs so not like many people will be playing with that set up. The pictures on the right look soooo much better than the ones on the left. Remember, you choose to use this feature so crying about it is just silly.

      Imagine being a professional artist making a AAA video game, and tech ceos (not just some jerk on twitter) run your work through an AI filter to “make it better” and force that on your players.

      Absolute madness.

      Gaming is like 1% of their profit. If you told Jensen that gamers were unhappy, he’d ask if gamers are a new AI model. Otherwise, don’t care, ship it.

      Am i the only one that thinks that the examples look way better with dlss5 on?
      Sure the lighting is maybe a bit overpronounced, but there is way more detail.

      You want to use dlss 5 to enhance? That’s fine, but it should be left to the artists to determine the art directions, and is the ai going to interpret it the same every single time? Until you can have fine controls over settings there’s gonna be a lot of inconsistencies and artifacts.

      Even the most realistic video games still look like video games and not like real footage, and I could see a place for a technology that helps make it look photorealistic, but this just looks unreal in a different and uncanny way.

      I’ll give it time, it looks like the tone mapping that you get from overly messed up HDR gets you.

      Edit: To be specific I mean give it time to adjust for errors. There’s so much inconsistency with what was shown I’m not sure we have the full picture.

      Does any company actually do user research anymore? Like, obviously a massive fuck load of money was spent on developing this, and yet no one thought to consult the massive gaming fan base on steam forums or reddit, or discord? Like come on.

      Im no where near the smartest person in a room at any given time, but I feel like hundreds of thousands of dollars in salaries are being wasted on people who don’t have a lock of common sense.

      So if anyone is hiring for a role that needs a modicum of thought and common sense, hey, I’m available, and I’m probably cheaper than your other guy.

      I don’t understand the hate. I guess people need to write articles about something and dumping on anything AI as part of the zeitgeist. I looked at the video examples and one can say, definitively, that DLSS looks much better and looks more photrealistic.
