      This fungus spider zombies stuff has existed for years, or is there a specific reason why them being in Northern Ireland is important? Do they not get spiders/fungus up there?

      Insects infected with zombie fungus are not new. I guess they were not present or known in Ireland before.
      What changed, Is it about climate getting warmer?
