      >The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested seven foreign nationals — six Ukrainian nationals and one from the United States — on charges of conspiring to carry out terrorist activities against India.

      >An FIR in the case was registered on Friday evening. The US national was detained by the Bureau of Immigration at Kolkata airport, and three Ukrainians each were detained at airports in Lucknow and Delhi.

      >A source said that the accused had entered India on valid visas, but had proceeded to Mizoram without the mandatory Restricted Area Permit.

      >“From there, they crossed into Myanmar, where they reportedly met ethnic groups hostile to India. Investigations also uncovered that multiple consignments of drones from Europe were delivered by them in Mizoram,” the source said.

      >According to the NIA, the accused were involved in illegally “importing huge consignments of drones from Europe to Myanmar via India” for the use of “Ethnic armed groups”. These groups were allegedly also supporting some proscribed “Indian Insurgent Groups by way of supplying weapons and other terrorist hardware and training them”.

      >The NIA also submitted that it wanted to “apprehend the close unknown associates still at large who are likely to surface after technical analysis of the social media accounts”

      Oh, so the Americans did need the help of Ukrainian drone operators. But they only accept the help if it for terrorism to kill people. Defending drones is probably gay

      Ukrainians are following the orders of the Americans. If you remember the USSR time, when the CIA used terrorism in Pakistan and Afghanistan to counter the USSR. I think their objectives are to create or fuel terror groups and provide them advanced equipments

      This story seems to attract a lot of weird conspiracy theories.  No, Ukraine is not trying to destabilize India on behalf of Trump and the CIA.  Ukraine has plenty enough on its plate already and so does the US.  I doubt if Trump could find Myanmar on a map or possibly even India.  The US has no interest in destabilizing India, which counters China’s influence in the region.  

      The most likely explanation is the arrested guys were mercenaries trying to profit off the Myanmar civil war or the cross border drug smuggling scene.  

      The india-Myanmar border is a complex and chaotic mess of rival factions and ethnonationalist separatist movements that sometimes fight each other and sometimes ally with each other.  It’s confusing as hell to keep track of all the groups involved:

      India and Myanmar sometimes cooperate to attack armed factions.  But it’s a lawless and largely unfenced border that sees a huge trade in drugs, guns, and human trafficking.

      A covert mission of the US and its affiliate busted and the news getting published in mainstream media shows how times have changed. This would have been a hush hush affair some time back. It looks like payback.
