      The problem with prediction markets is what do you do when the outcome is unclear?

      I remember the good old days when this type of degen behavior was limited to sports.

      They just need to ban prediction markets at this point. It inherently encourages insider trading and anonymous leaking of classified or otherwise protected information.

      Also when you’re making death threats at a reporter the countdown thing really only works once. When you’re doing your 3rd countdown „you have 30 minutes or else“ after the other countdowns already failed and nothing happened you just look silly.

      Prop betting (don’t call them prediction markets that is ludicrous marketing to try and legitimize the rampant and fevered gambling) like this should be banned outright. It is a completely insane thing to allow given how it can legalize corruption, manipulation, and creates the most negative incentives imaginable.

      This article is truly shocking. We are facing a whole new form of corruption at a global scale. What stops an individual from intentionally making a minor „mistake“ that fails to intercept a missile and make millions of dollars. The incentives for corruption are unlimited.

      How this isn’t considered gambling is beyond me. I don’t even care about the specifics, it’s obviously gambling.

      I’m so glad governments criminalize and control recreational drugs, pain meds, sex workers, etc, but the massively destructive habit of gambling is encouraged and widely promoted, including the use of ads that appeal to children.

      Now gamblers are harassing and threatening journalists, sports figures and anyone else who doesn’t facilitate their get-rich-quick greed.

      Fuck all these gambling corporations and the people that support them.
