Scum bag – edit not not removing the bullshit carbon tax
If there’s a cut, there has to be some level of insistance that they actually get it fully passed on, rather than the petrol stations just pocketing even more.
Hurry the fk up .Gobshites
This is the correct way. Reduce the excise, but don’t budge on the carbon tax. People have to pay for their emissions regardless if there’s a war or not.
So cut the excise then? It’s not that complicated.
I know this will piss people off, but i think they should leave the petrol and diesel alone and just do cost of living supports for those on fuel allowance and offer energy credits for those who are under some type of means test limit possibly 40/50k
The reason they won’t touch the carbon tax is because that will help go toward all the fines we are going to be hit with by the EU for emissions. We’re talking billions.
Im not an expert on this but I assume they still have EU policies to follow on tax and emissions fees or whatever.
All I want to know is if its gonna cost me €100 a week on Fuel to get to my meh salary job
We’re in this mess because of our reliance on oil so I’d be in favour of the carbon tax IF it’s used to speed up our shift to renewables and EVs.. short term there needs to be some relief for people on the cost of fuels though
Hurry up!

Hinting is no good. He needs to actually do it.
Over 50% of the cost.of.fill up the tank goes to the government. Yes we have a cost of living problem but we try clearly have a cost of government problem too.
They really are obsessed with the silly carbon tax
Less hints and more action.
A whole lot of hinting, equating to absolutely fuck all happening in reality!
He’s useless!
Carbon tax is only 15c of the price. Excise & unspecified cash grab tax is 82c of every litre. People need to stop on about Carbon tax like its a problem. Its the gov. levying way too much generalised unjustified tax on every litre for the sake of compensating for careless spending by civil service on bullshite like bike sheds & ornemental stone walls on public offices no one bit the staff will ever see & greedy oil destributors who are taking the piss.
Irelands oil comes from US & North sea. Neither are interrupted. Irish oil destributors buy months in advance on contracts that smooth out market volatility. So any price hikes would take months for use to see at the pumps if real. The International Energy Agency released 400 million barrels of oil onto global markets this week, thats nearly 4 times the amount released during Ukraine war crisis. Add to that Trump temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil, If anything oil prices should be tanking as we see a huge artifical glut.
The oil exports effected are from Iran & gulf states like Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait & eastern Saudi, thats only 20% of global supply & that oil supplies India & China ffs, prices at Irish pumps should not he soaring, they definitely should be plummeting if truely based on global supply chains.
There is no logical, economic or geopolitical reason why oil bound for China/India & a war 1000s of Km away that in no way interrupts our fossil fuel supplies should be sending pump prices soaring. Its local greed & just that
