Schließlich werden sie als eine Nation dargestellt "kleine Leute," aufrichtig in ihrer Naivität, eher Opfer staatlicher Schurkerei als deren Komplizen," schreibt Myroslava Chaiun, Reporterin und Forscherin der War Crimes Investigations Unit des Kyiv Independent, in diesem Kommentar.

I don’t really see how children aren’t the victims of militarized propaganda but it’s clear this person is bitter. As for the teacher unless he suicide bombed himself into a government office there isn’t much meaningful resistance in some ho-hum town.
I don’t believe he came into it with any objectivity.

It sickens me to see ruzzia acknowledged in any cultural way. Even the special olympics makes me gag.
I have some mixed emotions or thoughts on this movie. On one hand it was interesting to see a sudden propaganda boost after the Ukraine invasion but on the other hand these people were content to live under that regime before invasion knowing, seeing and experiencing transformation to dictatorship without any meaningful resistance.
Just a smart individual, he makes a crappy movie, and now he gets to live in the West, and visit movie screenings, instead of living in shithole Russia…
Just another tearful story about good ruzians oppressed by putin. Give me a break.
If anything, it promotes the false narrative about the need to save ruzia from defeat or collapse.
