      The US should have taken Ukraine’s drone deal months ago. Ukraine’s high interception rates should have been enough to convince them.

      and i find it more than fair, that ukraine ​wan​ts money and technology for their support, especially after the US did nothing to support them throughout the last year and was instead constantly pushing ukraine to surrender…

      It’s a tricky situation. Ukraine’s in a position where they need resources to defend themselves, and asking for something in return feels reasonable, especially considering the level of support they haven’t received. If we were in their shoes, we’d probably want to leverage what we have too. It’s not about just giving away help for free, especially when you’re fighting for survival.

      The country the US spent a year trying to push into surrender is now the one with the expertise they desperately need. That’s a negotiating position nobody planned for.

      Coincidentally Trump just asked allies for help. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled about Zelenskiy’s offer. It’s not like the man is pettish and holds a grudge over bullshit or anything.

      Money might come if he sells that tech and interceptors. But the inceptors are very cheap and still won’t make up for the billions of funding required by Ukraine. What Zelensky wants most is the patriots missiles. The problem is the world is running out of them and Trump’s priority would be to arm the middle east Allies instead of Ukraine. Unless Ukraine somehow gets a license to locally manufacture those missiles (never happening), Ukraine is about to be in a whole lot of trouble very soon. Worst case scenario, the Russians could use the Fighter jets closer if there are no interceptors left. Best thing that can happen for Ukraine right now is an immediate ceasefire in the middle east.
