Number one. You can set good defensive position on rivers and mountains. Everything else is a secondary issue.

Serious question. Would you be happy if the EU became a single country? I mean, India is making it work with dozens of different languages and cultures. Think of the economic and military power you’d have.

None of those. Seeing how people are arguing about politics in the current state and how toxic they are, I think it would be much worse with a larger area.
The only change I would do from todays poland border is take Kaliningrad( or at least part of it), to clean up our sea acces and put some distance fron us to russia.
Besides that? There ain’t much benefit to bigger size of our country.
