  2. This is a better way to show the real size of countries than Mercator projection. For example, on many maps, South America is smaller than Russia, although as you can see, South America is 4% larger than Russia, not smaller.

  3. The area is incorrect for many round pieces. You should look at an equal-area projection. If you want to keep it rectangular you can use the Lambert cylindrical equal-area projection.
