  1. There is one critical information that should be added to the map: Hormuz is the only checkpoint that has no alternatives if disrupted.

    The disruption of any of the others would require lengthy and expensive detours (or moving oil through ground infrastructures, as in the case of Danish straits), but Hormuz has no real alternatives.

    I wish Nasser were ruling Egypt and had extended solidarity to Iran by closing the Suez too. Europeans would’ve brokered a peace deal by taking an extra tariff hit from Trump on day 5.

    How the hell is the cape of good hope a choke point?

    Yes, going around closer to the cape reduces distance, but anyone felling unsafe can just go further south – there is literally nothing in the way for 1000s of miles.
