    Isn’t Japan’s solar power adoption rate per unit of land area already among the highest in the world?

  3. There is a significant part of Japan where solar panels don’t work very well during winter months. A lot of Japanese terrain isn’t friendly to mega solar projects. Cutting down forests to install solar panels seems like changing one problem for another.

  4. there was a big push for solar after 2011 and Fukushima crisis. But one of the big issue is : while power companies are steadily increasing their prices , the FIT ( feed in tarrif ) is outrageously low for solar panel owners while the price of equipment is increasing due to weak yen . This is a shame because solar is working very well in japan , even in hokkaido

    I’d hardly say Japan is alone in this issue, but yes globally countries with heavy oil dependency continue to get screwed every time there’s an oil issue.
