From history (yes, that annoying thing, right?) every time „belief“ was a key ingredient in applying whatever policy… it all went super-duper well, didn’t it?

*A* [*Reform UK*](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/brexit-party) *government would expect to dismiss the top civil servant in every government department and replace them with people seen as more likely to implement the party’s priorities, the Guardian has learned.*

I can see some massive Employment Tribunal payouts in the future if Reform win. They would spend most of their time defending (and losing) unfair dismissal cases.

Yeah because then there won’t be someone saying no to contracts for mates.

It’ll be like the PPE VIP lanes during the pandemic but with more excuses and law breaking.

  4. This has worked *so* well in the local councils where they’ve brought in outside *“experts”* to cut costs. Oh wait, it hasn’t. It’s been another blindingly obvious, corrupt move to give their mates jobs.

So, installing loyalists to carry out their xenophobic, racist and anti-woman plans more effectively?

These people getting into power will be a disaster for this country. Say goodbye to like every right you’ve ever had.

*One senior member said this would be modelled on the second Trump administration, with a focus on making change via executive orders rather than legislation, where possible.*

They openly want to MAGA-fy the UK and turn us into the 51st state. Shouldn’t this be a question of national security at this point?

What happened to all those „sovereignty“ arguments, only for Reform to pledge to sell us out to America?

  6. It’s MAGA in disguise, although not very well disguised, could use a Megaphone. If you vote for these you deserve the outcome you will get

Am I wrong in assuming another country is doing this already, positive I read something for the last 400 days about similar practices. /S

  8. They’ve literally just slapped a new sticker over the Project 2025 handbook, and it’s going to work. Because anyone who votes for them doesn’t actually pay attention beyond the dog whistles.

  9. _TheChairmaker_ on

If only we had a real time example of how that kind of policy plays out that voters could see on the news and go „hell no“! /S

Basically theyre copying Trumps Heritage Foundation plan which has been proven to be a disaster. Great….

  11. Educational_Ad288 on

So in other words, exactly what trump did in America?
Look at how thats played out, 🤡

Christ, this is what happens when people without critical thinking skills are supported by other people who have no critical thinking skills, so they are completely ignorant about why we have politically neutral civil servants in the first place.

  13. So openly saying they will implement loyalty testing and direct executive order style government… Mix that with their far right anti worker, anti minority anti immigrant beliefs, how they are friends with and take money from fascists and explain to me how they are not fascists?

Because thats what it is, its eliminating safeguarding that forces the state to follow the law and eliminating democratic oversight.

Silly old bugger really is just copying trump at every turn isn’t he, what will he do next to be like his American paymasters? Become a mega nonce? Kidnap the leader of the chagos islands?

They certainly wave around a lot of red flags considering their party colour is blue.

Interesting way of defining the person based on merit. The merit of following the party line.

  17. Captain_English on

The point of civil servants is that they’re not believers or disbelievers. They’re supposed to be objective and do what they’re told, if it’s not illegal.

  18. aReasonableStick on

In other words ReformUK will DEI hire their people into those positions.

  19. Jensablefur on

They’re not even pretending to be anything else but the UK branch of Maga/the alt right at this point.

Every single person who votes for them knows precisely what you’re voting for now. No excuses/shocked pikachu/leopards ate my face moments down the line. And plenty of I told you so from the rest of us.

  20. Noonecanseemenow on

Yes, let’s remove the historically and well regarded impartial civil service for yes men. That never ever went poorly for a nation.

This would be Farage using the good name of the civil service to mask corruption as farage enriches himself and his mates.

  21. Isn’t that was trumps administration did? Look how they’re doing – I was considering voting reform based on their immigration policies, 100% won’t be now

  22. spacebatangeldragon8 on

‚We’re going to replace Civil Service dinosaurs with competent loyalists‘ is not the thing that would be bad about a Reform government; it’s that they wpuld be using those loyalists to implement bad and immoral policy.

  23. Translation – Believers = sycophants (a must for an up and coming fascist movement)

  24. subaruheart on

A reform government would dry fuck the public of the UK up the ass . I know people are sick to death of political shit but really people think before you vote and if you think reform is a good idea bang your head against a wall and think again .

  25. soothysayer on

Reform would be catestrophic for this country. Anyone who even takes 2 minutes to think about their policies objectively understands this.

The people who vote for them don’t care though. They just want to believe that all our issues can be solved by sticking up some flags and reducing the amount of brown people in the country.

I have some sympathy. If returning the UK to the glorious days of (insert date) is that easy, why wouldn’t we do it??

  26. AngrySaltire on

If these cretins get in then undoubtedly Reform voters will get what they deserve. Just a shame about the rest of us getting it too.

  27. imasexyshaytan on

The whole left wing government needs replacing.

Anyone that knew, protected or hide the rape gangs and the mass illegal migration needs arresting.

  28. iamezekiel1_14 on

So this is basically Koch buying Trump 2016, so he could stick his people in Trump’s transition team?

  29. As a Canadian, can I ask that you PLEASE kick these MAGA style morons to the curb? Remind you fellow citizens that you need Fact based policy. Vibes and feelings should have nothing to do with government policy. Do you still have facts in the UK? We Canadians already lost one friend to disinformation and general stupidity. We don’t want to lose another.

This is essentially a fascistic takeover of the crucially impartial central government policy and administrative functions. The Civil Service is politically impartial for a very important reason. It’s to ensure the fair delivery of public services to everyone in the country. Most importantly, it exists to rigorously research, formulate policy options and make policy recommendations to based upon facts and evidence Ministers – the top politicians. It does not exist to be subservient to Ministers, and do their bidding for them based upon their own politically skewed beliefs…..
This proposal by Reform U.K. is very sinister. It represents the party politicisation of the Civil Service. Something that should deeply concern us all!
