      I know it’s bullshit because they are only reporting the carrier was damaged. The carrier is at the center of the battle group, it would be the last ship to sustain heavy damage.

      Call me skeptical but I think I will need more then just the IRGC statement on this to believe it. It would be a monumental failure of its defense screen if any missiles or drones made it to the inner core of a carrier group. Heads would roll, a lot of them.

      I’m 90% sure this is complete crap, but that’s the problem with a White House that obviously, unapologetically LIES to us as political strategy. You never know just who to trust. Even with a fabrication as grandiose as this, in my mind, there’s still a double-digit chance it’s true.

      It makes the American public even easier for other governments to manipulate.

      I take this with a grain of salt, Iran has talked out their ass before. Not not to say they can’t but rather more of a „I’ll believe it when I see it“ situation

      I don’t believe it, but I do believe it would be a good strategic move. Risky – if the Americans genuinely lost a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier they’d probably go nuts and actually nuke the guys who sank it. But strategically and diplomatically it’d be as significant as the RN losing its battleships was in WWII. The USN would immediately have to withdraw its other carriers from anywhere near the conflict.

      Likewise the Argentines really should have attack the RN carrier in the Falklands. I’m reminded of Machiavelli saying that most men do not know how to be wholly good or wholly evil, and do half-measures. If you’re going to go to war and be mostly destroyed as a regime anyway, you may as well go all-in.

      I wouldn’t have fucked around attacking a dozen neighbouring countries. I understand why they did it – create economic chaos, and cleave the Gulf states away from the US – but putting the entire missile force onto a single carrier – shit, *something* would get through, and even if you didn’t sink it, at least badly damage it. And someone would photograph it, and the image of a sinking burning USN carrier would never be forgotten.

      Just so everyone knows, Iran lies almost as much as Trump. Official US military sources are saying a ship approached the Lincoln but was fired upon by USN Destroyers and laughed helicopters. No casualties.
