Solarenergie *könnte* dieses Jahr 10 % des Strombedarfs der USA decken. Im Jahr 2025 wuchs es um rekordverdächtige 28 %, was etwas mehr als 8,5 % des gesamten erzeugten Stroms entspricht.
Solar’s fastest growth in a decade, fossils fall again, but emissions rise

Interesting thing about how the annual records work with solar in the USA, is that while 2025 was the record generation year – it is mostly because of what happened in 2024. Solar that was installed in 2025, only had a chance to partially pump up the numbers last year. And especially since solar in the USA is heavy toward the end of the year because of tax benefits, it also means the 2025 solar only ran for a tiny bit of time.
So looking forward at 2026, it will grow nicely as 2025’s installation base was the second highest it ever was (behind 2024), it probably won’t be enough to grow all the way to 10%….BBUUUTTT maybe.
Either way, it’ll be over 9.75% or something, and adding it to wind will take the two over 20% – which is damn cool.
