    1. In a sensational turn of events in the fight against Chat Control, a majority in the European Parliament voted today to end the untargeted mass scanning of private communications. In doing so, the Parliament firmly rejected the error-prone and unconstitutional surveillance practices of recent years. Pressure is now mounting on EU governments to respect the MEPs’ vote and bury untargeted mass surveillance in Europe once and for all.

      The trilogue will start tomorrow!

    2. This once again PROVES we citizens CAN CHANGE THINGS.

See the stop killing video games, see chat control now, even the Gamestop stock in 2021!

Lot of times changes don’t happen because we are not coordinated. But WE ARE THE CITIZENS, and when we all act, WE CAN CHANGE THINGS.

I CAN CHANGE THINGS, WE CAN CHANGE THINGS, ALL OF US CAN.

      Proud moment for Europeans.

Now let’s get rid of U.S digital app trash and we can finally get our dignity back

While I’m glad to see this, I feel like the nations just pivoted to instituting their own age verifications in preparation for another CC-like push in the near future.

Sort of feels like finding a pocket of air while cave diving but the water is still rising.

Hate to sound so pessimistic but man is the fight for internet privacy exhausting.

Something good actually happened? This is… a weird feeling…

And it’s not just politicians folding to implement something much worse later on?

    6. W8 for real? We did it? You mean all that nagging, emails and calls actualy fucking worked for one!?

    7. Did we actually win or is this going to be a stepping stone for an even more aggressive one?

Has Europe really managed to overcome the temptation of totalitarianism?

       I can’t believe my luck.

    9. Good news, but I fear in six months it will be back, repackaged under a different name

Finally I can be proud again to be European. A government of and for not ruling over it‘s people.
Well done dear MEPs and well done everyone that fought for chat control.
I will stay true to the ideals that we’ve committed to today once again. And so shall you my European siblings.

Common sense prevails and must prevail.
Otherwise, we’ll end up with a Western China

does this mean they stop doing it? or just that they are no longer required to do it but nations can carry on as before?

“The price of freedom is vigilance”, or something like that. Can probably expect another round of this, and there’s perhaps other things to watch out for. But it’s good to have these little victories, things can always seem bleak these days.
