      A military career can offer you(and your wife/kids) opportunity most of us poor people probably wont ever have. The ability to travel in and outside the US with money to spend while you do it, immediately come to mind. Im not a vet so dont know all the ins and outs but seems like they get some nice benefits during/after service. All of us will live and die, some of us will do something with it or serve some purpose even if it isnt our own first.

      The military kinda has some loose policy in this regard.

      Essentially if you are stupid rich, you cannot serve in the military. Technically you can as no regulations exist barring the super rich from serving. Many millionaires have and people from wealthy families have served.

      However the problem isn’t super simple. Say you were worth billions and driving a 500k car to work, living in a mansion off post, flying on a private jet and so on. This creates conflicts with *good order and discipline* as it effects moral of soldiers around this person, it dimensions the effects of leadership. There is a way to get separated if you became rich while in the military, because of these issues.

      Now there have been plenty of wealthy people who have served. About 8% of CEOs in fortune 500 companies have served and 18 billionaires have also served as of 2020. Many people born into wealth also serve although not super common, they also tend to go the officer route either out of family legacy because their dad, grandparents also served or they simply want to experience it.

      The key part is hiding the wealth and it’s allowed, flaunting it and you’ll surely be separated.

      Most poor people are dumb and lazy and to kill off a billionaire or their offspring would only hurt the population in the long run as there would be less „smart“ people to continue to build and grow the country
