What’s everyone’s favorite Canadian made alcohol brand or make?
Not good
With everything getting expensive, alcohol is something I can kick down the list. And I am not 20s anymore to go clubbing and buying drinks.
What about hard drugs?
too expensive
a 24 pack of coke is like half the cost of a 12 pack of beer
Gave up drinking since New Year’s. Never felt healthier, happier, and sleeping much better.
Okanagan Distilleries 👍🏻
No shit. Prices went up, cost of living went up, wages didnt follow.
Drinking just ain’t the thing anymore especially with the younger generation
It’s almost as if alcohol is too expensive, and the younger generations 35 and below hardly drink at all socially let alone personally. Good for overall health of a population and healthcare, bad for big beer business. Too bad
It’s pretty simple, the offering has gotten too damn expensive. It’s clearly a discretionary/vice purchase, and it seems like every time I go to the SAQ, the usual things I’d buy are a dollar or two more expensive. Compound that over a few years and I feel like I’m making a trip there once every other month or so instead of once or twice in the same month.
I had cut down drinking a lot since Covid. And I drink less now that I am in my 40s and need to mind my health.
Not sure what young people are up to, but sounded like people are ditching alcohol for cannabis. Not necessarily better tradeoff imho.
No shit, a 6 pack of Pabst at the dep was $7 pre-covid, now its $11 an increase of 57%
A 4 pack of Guinness was $11 now its $16 an increase of 36%.
I don’t believe the average Joe’s salary has gone up 36-57% in 6yrs….
Obviously we’re gonna drink less if shit costs more
I’m not going to drink in 2026 much. Maybe 0. I suspect a lot of people are making the same change. And the younger gens are way less interested in drinking.
Don’t let anyone tell you this is anything other than great news. Let’s give most of the credit to the easy availability of legal cannabis. A far superior and safer recreational drug than alcohol.
Must be because I quit drinking.
Too expensive for something I don’t need.
a case or a bottle cost upwards and over 50 bucks now, just for the cheap shit. people cant afford to be alcoholics anymore
Been free from alcohol almost 8 years now and never looking back. It’s just a shitty drug with shitty side effects. People are smarter in regard to being healthy now and it’s an easy move to avoid such an unhealthy thing. Cost of living being so high also probably helps people pass on liquor. It’s not a cheap habit.
I did dry january and lost 10lb. Im back to drinking but its a constant reminder of how much healthier I could be by cutting out alcohol.
I just finished dry Feb.
Drinking just isn’t worth it. Having a beer or two ever now and then is great but I don’t see the appeal of having anything more.
Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving industry
A night of drinking now costs more than the tents we see everywhere.
Salaries haven’t kept up with price hikes. Alcohol has become too expensive coupled with far less disposable income. They priced themselves out.
Good. Cause we are stick and tired of paying for your overpriced garbage.
Beer remained stable, imported wine sales declined, sales of spirits declined. Ciders and coolers were the only category that grew.
Drinking is unhealthy and just for fun. No wonder it is on the short list of things to drop. I stopped drinking almost a decade ago, and even before that it was just a few times every year.
Who cares? I don’t sell alcohol.
This sort of stuff belongs in trade publications.
