I mean, yeah thats always worst case scenario. Thats like ’no shit sherlock‘.

The chances though? Probably not very high

According to iranintl.com, sources are saying that Khamenei’s son has just been elected to new supreme leader after pressure from IRGC.

I can’t tell if this a r/noncredibledefense post or not but this sounds like the best case scenario. A leader who is unequivocally evil and an existential threat to the world provides clarity on response options and casus belli.

We’re still doing casus belli, right?

Worst case scenario is a civil war in a country that borders one of the most important shipping routes on earth, has tons of highly enriched uranium, and has the Taliban on their border as well as Pakistani militias

This is far-fetched, but Trump proposed today the idea of funding resistance groups within Iran. So you never know

I’ve always felt attacking Iran would give them upmost narrative power. And I think it’s very possible here. Now every protest prior can be framed as foreign backed. Even if Iran reshuffles away form Islam slightly. It would be an easy nationalist irgc rebranding to “defend Iran”

So Trump is replacing the leadership in Venezuela and Iran with the same people? What’s the goal here?
