      Can’t say fairer!

      „We rightly expect our Armed Forces to protect British citizens around the world in crises like this.

      “But that includes tax exiles like Isabel Oakeshott and washed-up old footballers who mock ordinary people pay our taxes here [in the UK.

      “So as we protect them, does the prime minister agree that it’s only right for tax exiles to start paying taxes to fund our Armed Forces just like the rest of us do.”

      Ed Davey doesn’t have that much policy sway. Perhaps he could focus on logistics: lead a slow clap mass welcome at the airport, squirt the worst tax avoiders with silly string.

      You must first confront the reason which pushed them to leave the UK; the government is responsible for creating a nation in which wealthy people no longer want to live in and you can vent your envy-driven, pseudo-patriotic rage at them all you like but you cannot blame them for merely following the incentives created by the mismanagement of the state.

      Which washed up old footballers has he got in mind? I can’t think of any who have relocated to Dubai but I admit I don’t keep a close eye on this stuff.
