At the Air Force and Marine Corps Trials in the United States, a veteran athlete from the Luhansk region, Ivan Artiukh, won four gold medals in all four disciplines in which he competed.
“Yesterday was the swimming competition. I swam four events: 100 meters freestyle, 50 meters freestyle, 50 meters backstroke, and 50 meters breaststroke. I took first place in all of them are four gold medals,” Artiukh said.
The veteran added that he will compete in three more events in different disciplines: rowing machine, cycling, and sitting volleyball.
Artiukh also noted that this is his first time competing in the Air Force and Marine Corps Trials, but he already has experience in international competitions in Lithuania, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.
Ivan Artiukh is originally from the Luhansk region and currently lives and works in Kyiv. He served in the National Police of Ukraine’s assault brigade “Liut.” Before the full-scale war, he worked as an investigator with the National Police in Sievierodonetsk.
He served on the Luhansk front, took part in the Kharkiv counteroffensive, and fought in the battles for Lyman and the Bakhmut area. He was wounded in Chasiv Yar in the spring of 2024. After treatment and rehabilitation, he completed his military service in 2025.
Artiukh has been involved in sports since childhood. He played football, basketball, volleyball, and swimming. After eight years of training, he earned the title of Candidate for Master of Sports, which he later reaffirmed in para swimming after his injury.
