Tax the companies / banks, not the people. If the Swiss people have to risk their lives, then they should not have to pay for it too.
When party politics become more important than anything else, even the military and security will take a backseat.
If you add a convoluted glacial procurement process and a lack of effective oversight to that mix you won’t get anywhere.
That’s nothing new. Even Thomas Süssli (Ex-CDA) knew that and talked about it.
Honestly, we just should join NATO. Neutrality protects no one. Neutrality is only a nation wide form of oppurtunism …
tbh i dont understand why switzerland is even carrying at all about their military
1. they neutral
2. they got big players around them, they would have to fall to be anything problematic
3. anyways way to small to do anything “impactful“
just focus ur military on jets and missle defense so you dont get hit when something actually passes germany or france or idk whatever and thats it
make troops not mandatory anymore and you will have SO MUCH LESS PAIN IN THE ASS FOR PAYING THAT CORRPUT SHIT

We are being ridiculously naive here. Yeah it isn’t obvious who exactly will invade us when and where exactly. But what is obvious, is that times are changing. And when it does become blatantly obvious what the exact threat is, it will be way too late to start a 10+ year procurement cycle for some kind of weapon system (or discuss how to finance them).
We need to place orders now. More of everything would be a good start. And nothing that depends on long term good will and honoring of contracts from america (like F-35 or Patriot). Because they obviously cannot be trusted.
Just add another war tax over the current war tax that has never been abolished…
