  1. I still dont believe that the farmers get that much more… If anyone can link an article or study about the compensation the farmers get now i would appreciate. I think the k and s mafia are just banking most of the money…

I view the pea protein mix as a good thing. I’d prefer to limit my meat intake and that’s one way.

It’s probably both price and introducing healthier options. For example I like the pea thing better in most foods, less nasty bits.

  4. The farmers aren’t doing it. The Farmers arent benefitting. It is Atria, Saarioinen, Snellman and the retail chains that hike up the prices and cut margins.

The actual people who do the actual products, they are not the reason, they are the common consumer and workers like the rest of us. The price of feeding a cow has not increased with same scale as the price on the store shelf.

Farmers here get the lowest amount of money for beef in EU. Itis not farming why its expensive.

  6. I haven’t tried those, but they (especially the beef-chicken) feel like strange, unnatural hybrid products. Why not e.g. replace half of your beef with beans? Vegetarians of course won’t be touching those, and meat eaters will probably be disappointed when cooking with those.

  7. This doesn’t have anything to do with the farmers (who don’t make these products) and also isn’t about „cutting the product“ with cheaper ingredients. It’s about folks wanting healthier and more eco-friendly options. The 100% meat products are still there as before.

Why is it bad omen to introduce more products? Especially if they’re healthier and/or more eco friendly?

Nauta-herne, which is more expensive than beef… /facepalm

If I want vegetarian, I’ll buy vegetarian. If I want beef, I’ll buy beef.

Good thing I have two freezers full of „ethical“, freely lived meat that has been killed nearly instantly.

I would actually love to buy beef mince mixed with pea protein. Haven’t seen that in stores yet. Beef and chicken sounds awful though.

  11. This is honestly pretty great. Still waiting for porkchiken mince, the less beef the better.

What’s the issue here, exactly? There are plenty of pea and broad bean farmers in Finland too, the more applications to their produce are created and brought to into the market, the better.

Wouldn’t it be better to mix beef with soy protein instead of pea protein, taste wise?

Nauta-Kana is an interesting combination, I wonder if it’s any cheaper than just plain beef…

Beef-chicken isn’t that bad. I like it in pasta for example because it’s cheaper and not that fatty like beef-pork mince

  16. Beef is very unsustainable in the quantities its used these days, these both give you almost same taste and cooking properties with 30% less beef, but you get same or better result for cheaper if you buy the veggie or chicken separately and mix them at home. Actually I have no idea why mixed meats and spices are allowed to be sold in stores, because you can’t take them apart at home, but if they sell them separately you can always mix them.

The environmental impact will be increasingly priced in. We have been degrading and overtaxing the planet for generations, and it couldn’t go on forever.

The alternative is just showing the true cost in the price sticker, at which point people will riot and vote for populists who promise them cheap beef.

  18. No. Different producers have been experimenting with different vegetable protein based products for decades. They usually don’t catch on. This is not a „bad omen“. Beef is not going to become unattainable. Please calm down.

  19. I’ve been buying that just cuz i’m trying to lose weight and the fat content is lower. Its been a really good substitute for having a slightly healthier version of some of my recipes. The beef/pea combo, i haven’t tried making a burger out of it yet, but it was really good in my 3 bean chili.

Chicken and beef mince has made it to Norway as well. Disguised as normal mince aside from the fine print.

Has no delicious resulting Culinary application so I can’t understand why.

  21. Just wondering. Was there ever time when people were annoyed that local butcher started to mix beef and pork.

The point is not to lower the price by blending beef with pea protein. They are bringing a lower meat alternative for people who want to lower their meat consumption. There still is the whole beef version available.

Btw finland has never been a beef economy.
