Not when your country is hell-bent on becoming a fascist government.

  2. supercyberlurker on

Should be… but MAGA sold us out so they could indulge their violent fantasies.

He brought a gun to an active ICE investigation, impeded it and his gun went off on accident. He did everything he could do wrong.

  4. Even if ICE were at fault how can you possibly conclude a single event that results in 1 death justification to end ICE why should we have any government at all.

The government got blamed for laken riley now they get blamed for Pretti, no winning if you think this way. Only way to not be wrong is to do nothing.

  5. It’s almost like we need some form of democratically accountable law enforcement…

Well it wouldn’t. Ice has been getting funding and getting its budget increased by both democrats and republicans. Democratic leadership even now don’t want to disband ice. Unfortunately, ICE will stay.

  7. Prosecution and capital punishment for everyone who contributed to this crime. It’s murder.

They disarmed him, beat the ever loving shit out of him, and then executed them. I hope there is a hell for these murderers.

  9. So, he’s still dead, and while one guy resigned, nobody has been charged or otherwise held seriously accountable, right? I feel like people celebrate the reaction to his death as some kind of turning point, but at best it feels like it granted us a temporary ceasefire. They absolutely have the ability to start doing shit like this again next week if they wanted.

That’s like saying any wrong local police shooting in the past should be the end of all local police. Not realistic

  11. I think the worst part that I don’t see brought up a lot is that the 2 agents that have killed people in Minnesota are not trigger happy green horns. They weren’t brought into the DHS with this low to no standards hiring wave, given a badge and gun with no training, and pushed out into the public to hunt down migrants. They were veteran members of the agency. They’d both been on the job for close to a decade.

The rot within ICE/ the DHS runs far deeper than what puppy killer Barbie and Trump have done to it. Combining that many agencies together under one banner post 9/11 was a massive mistake. It creates a single agency under the executive branch that is so large it’s nearly impossible to provide proper oversight (even when it’s not actively being sabotaged) and hold pieces of it accountable.

At least one of these men should have never been hired in the first place because there’s no way he could pass a proper psych eval. Neither should have been allowed to stay working at the agency for 7+ years because they both have a record of failing to follow basic protocols and putting themselves, their coworkers, and civilians in danger because of it.

  12. Neither of the two men who murdered Pretti were ICE agents. Both worked for Customs and Border Protection.

What most reasonable people want is the end of deplorable behaviour by police and other enforcement agencies. not the end of law enforcement altogether.

  14. Some violent leftist radical interfered with law enforcement and got shot, guess we can’t have borders anymore! /s

they aren’t gonna move on from ICE, they will always have some form of immigration enforcement

  16. Looks like the repeat of Defund the Police campaign of 2020 which backfired so badly in the US. Boi no wonder liberals all over the world are in such precarious situation.

  17. ughonrepeat on

He brought that on all himself. People have protested for ever with signs and slogans and never got hurt. He was screaming, kicking and breaking. He wanted a confrontation. He was armed, he had to expect death was a possibility

  18. Alwaystired254 on

It should be. We as Americans owe it to ourselves to start realizing that America is now the more corrupt than ever. I’ve can do as they wish, including murder on video…. Obviously

  19. Wow. Lots of people including the writer are still in denial about you guys being under a fascist government without any checks.

  20. Lionessandlover on

not going to happen, have they abolished police forces after an unjustified police shooting? this isnt much different.

  21. I’m not taking the opinion seriously of an author that can’t even do enough research to know that Pretti was killed by CBP, not ICE.

  22. Firm-Environment-253 on

There is no mention of who the author of this article is. This is just another lame opinion piece.
