      But according to Texans it’s huge. It’s bigger than the USA even and definitely bigger than small countries like Australia or Europe

      I have a picture from a roundhouse where it’s 450km one way to the next roundhouse and 500km to the next town the other way. 

      Needless to say I was in the middle of nowhere

      Australian states are really huge, imagine if the contiguous US only had 6 states and DC.

      Meanwhile Australian speed limits top out at around 110kph (or just under 70mph). Texas has some that go 80mph (or just under 130kmp).

      As an American on my first visit to Aus, a local volunteered that Queensland was bigger than Texas really competitively. I informed him that I had never been to Texas so what does that have to do with me. Australia is consumed with places advertising the world’s largest this or that at the next exit. Now I live in Texas which has more people than the whole country.
