Restaurants in Japan are now priced for tourists who earn in euro/USD and the top 10% who can afford them. The vast majority of the people born here are now priced out of their own country and the only jobs that will be left in a couple decades will be service jobs to serve tourists, just like what happened in many other regions where tourism destroyed the livelihood of the local communities.
Restaurant owners will say it’s because of the raising costs and will report record profits right after raising prices.
Doing my bit for the economy. くら寿司 for lunch and 七輪 for dinner. ¥5,000 for 3 people for lunch and ¥6,000 for dinner. No alcohol really kept the cost down.
It’s not just the rising prices. It’s the smaller portions, lower quality, and overall reduced value.
