  2. Was it propaganda really though? I can remember that the UK media would not allow Gerry Adams‘ voice be broadcast. If you’re not allowing both sides to voice their opinions then, I ask you, who is the propagandist in the situation?

    I can also remember the BBC describe the African National Congress as „alleged terrorists“ while (in the same broadcast, in 1988) the IRA were simply described as „terrorists“. I’m not saying either statement was right or wrong, but there was an imbalance in the reporting. Not so different from the BBC reporting on the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in recent years.

  3. Yes, back in those days the UK channels would have (rare) interviews with Sinn Fein and have someone else’s voiceover on it to get around the stupid rules.
