Wie sind die Aussichten für Swiss Pharma bis 2030?
Die Lage scheint recht kritisch zu sein.

Well, the idea is to keep only suits and CEOs in Switzerland with their salaries doubled and the rest offshored.
Classic sharedholder capitalism in practice.
Voting for the right wing parties will only worse this as they don’t care about offshoring of jobs or the rich getting richer.
Switzerland is definitely loosing some of its former luster as the European pharmahub but its also not all as bad as it may seem. The Swiss flexible system for hire and fire are a big part of what make it attractive for MNCs to hire in Switzerland in the first place. In boom years they tend to overhire and on economic downturn they tend to overfire. Media likes to report on the latter, but almost never does on the former.
Not only pharma. That’s the case of most industries. Swiss salaries are much higher than other European countries and I’m not even talking about India etc. Only minimum core functions to justify taxing here will remain.
In my company it’s always an uphill battle to replace someone here. I’m always pressed to replace them anywhere else.
I work there – that trend has been ongoing for years.
I spent half my time on the phone with India – nobody likes it but we earn well hahha
I was laid off in July last year at a small startup. It was my first job out of academia. It was brutal looking for a new position as having a PhD meant I was overqualified but I had almost no experience in industry.
I’m starting a new job in Spain now, I really hope the situation improves so I can come back.
My employer makes parts for a pharma supplier. Busyer than ever. Workshop is boojed Fully a few months in advance.
On top of that with the strong CHF it’s really hard to justify a Swiss salary for anything really…
Thank god the rest of the country is diversified enough for the whole system not to go tits up. That’s how the pharma industry was born after all.
Good!
Janssen Vaccines closing Bümpliz, CSL Behring cutting 15% global workforce. Grim outlook if you’re in the Bern area.
Banks evaporating from day to night, Pharma imploding, a tragedy with international exposure that is unveiling corruption of civic servants… not a splendid moment for Switzerland
Don’t worry it benefits the shareholders. Just offshore and pocket the difference value creation to make money is an outdated business model anyways.
