Die Stadt Sotschi in der Region Krasnodar, Russland, steht Berichten zufolge seit etwa drei Stunden unter Drohnenangriff. Den von Anwohnern veröffentlichten Aufnahmen zufolge gehörte offenbar auch ein Heizkraftwerk zu den Zielen.
Sotschi ist Russlands Badeort am Schwarzen Meer für Eliten, Oligarchen und hochrangige Beamte. Es ist eng mit dem Prestige des Regimes und dem Erbe der Olympischen Winterspiele 2014 verbunden.
Durch gezielte Angriffe auf die Elektrizitäts- oder Heizungsinfrastruktur würden die Auswirkungen des Krieges zu einem symbolischen Zentrum des Reichtums und der politischen Isolation ausgeweitet. Störungen dort würden signalisieren, dass selbst gut sichtbare, elitäre städtische Räume nicht unerreichbar sind.
Der Krieg kommt nach Hause.
