Our most famous and respected king ever is definitely Baudouin, not Leopold 3.
And I can tell you that the day the only living person of that list will be gone, we will talk about it for months. He’s a living legend, I love him so much.
If we want to go down the scientific path you forgot some of the biggest names: Leo Baekeland (bakelite), Ernest Solvay (industrial scale chemistry), Georges Lemaître (physics), etc. And if you’re willing to include engineers, folks often forget Belgium helped kick off the industrial revolution together with the British. So there were some „minor“ contributors like Etienne Lenoir (internal combustion engine), Zenobe Gramme (first useful generator amongst a few other things), Walschaerts (massively improved steam engines), etc.
Also, if we’re going to list artists, Rubens (as in the painter) is Belgian.
And if you want to include politicians: Paul Spaak. Being considered one of the founding fathers of several of the organisations that led to the EU seems like something slightly important, getting the Benelux treaty going, UN stuff, NATO stuff, etc. I mean, if you’re looking for someone influential in 20th century politics, he’s not exactly a low-key figure.
Horta?
Eddy Wally
Breugel? Albert the soldier king? Jean Michelle?
[This](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Grootste_Belg) is what Belgians themselves thought. Ranked from 1 to 111. In 2005 though (sorry Rob, CEMI and Acid).
Also, Frank Deboosere shamefully overlooked.
As you put some scientist there, you may want to add Georges Lemaître (1894-1966) as he was one of the theorician of the Big Bang (he introduced the notion of everything starting from one atom – so the big bang concept). He worked with various prominent scientist of this time period (like Hubble).
Albert 1 is probably the ‚best‘ monarch we had.
Stromae is quite famous
Charles V is born in Belgium
Painters like Magritte, Rubens, Van Eyck , Ensor, Breughel
Also, most of us speak Flemish. We have three official languages in Belgium. Capital is french speaking tho
[**Georges Lemaître**](https://www.google.com/search?q=Georges+Lema%C3%AEtre&oq=who+invented+the+word+big+bang&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigAdIBCDYyNTVqMGo0qAIAsAIB&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&mstk=AUtExfAnrf1A4EjmYbjAyV1–ohO5QW37Kivyy_Ml87yLin7UwZ5kWvLEcj1ntdNRVxDGLwT_BHHiOf3QQipNzrlfWSa2WvZhvL7rvyI8v4VTDmc8MYYVs1BUfZjd7IlOdvvcSc&csui=3&ved=2ahUKEwiprpTrmtWSAxVm2AIHHWanItcQgK4QegQIAxAF)
