      Deserves a blue plaque. Seriously though this just means more people will shrug when your granny is mugged for her Tesco Club card.

      Dubliner in London here. This whole saga really encapsulates everything wrong with the UK at the moment. Even specifically with transport, there’s this ridiculous Victorian law which allows train companies to prosecute people for not paying the right fare (dates back to the time when the rail companies were state owned, now they’re private). So you have people who made honest mistakes being hauled up before the courts while [serial fare evaders get off scot free](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce8zdp4d123o) because the police are afraid of them.
