What fine line? Either you are pro-Canadian, or your pro-Secessionism, which means ultimately your pro-51st stater.
Hilarious that they can be open about not having any real principles by not being aggressive in defending Canada.
What most Canadians and even many Albertans don’t understand is the biggest threat to the UCP, is not the ANDP
It’s a splinter to the right
They have to allow a kayfabe of insurrection within their ranks. Or they will quickly cede 20% of their voters to fringe parties
This headline is hilarious to me.
Basically its reading „Alberta conservative MPs will say and do anything they need to inorder to get power.“
The media should ask every Alberta MP and MLA if they signed the petition. I’d like to see a full list of where they stand.
This doesn’t seem like a very sustainable position. There will almost certainly be a referendum later this year, and their response cannot be „well I don’t know“. Inevitably they’ll be forced to adopt a pro-Canada stance if they ever want to compete for government, but that will likely end with a few rural Alberta MPs getting kicked out of caucus. I don’t believe that all 34 MPs support confederation.
I just wish they’d stop writing about it, tbh. Feels like, in their work to manufacture drama, the press is really normalizing what is, to my understanding, still a fringe position in the province.
Is this consistent with them signing the separation petition?
I’m curious.
At first glance, I’d say no, no it is not, but what do I know about anything?
I’m not a conservative after all.
Thoughts?
The only line they’re walking is one that is empty words, their actions, which have a decidedly bigger impact than any words, are 100% clearly backing the separatists. As long as the media is refusing the base Smith on her actions and not words, there will be this irreconcilable divide between reality and the media, because Smith is a professional liar.
