If your job can be done remotely, it can be outsourced.to somewhere a lot cheaper.

Get your lazy ass out of bed and get into an actual office and stop moaning ffs.

Makes sense since our road network and public transport are also stuck in the 1980s.

I am 100% for WFH. No question. It makes sense.

However legislating for it seems tricky and this candidate isn’t exactly forthcoming.

    > This legislation would give workers an immediate and enforceable right to work remotely *where their role allows*,

Who determines the role, who determines where it allows, and how does the legislation account for every role in the every job? For example, an haulage company administrator would need to be onsite. While a IT company administrator could WFH. Same role, different scenarios. That’s just one example. How does legislation account for these nuances?

  4. I agree with the intent here, but what country has mandated WFH / flexible working? Seems legally challenging. I think offering some kind of tax rebate to companies per WFH / flexible working contract could encourage employers here.

People need to get over the fact the government isn’t going to make a law banning offices being opened. Half the jobs are at risk of going abroad there.s no way they’re going to start dictating how MNCs should work

Oh no I bought a house an hour and a half away from where I work and now I’m expected to commute to that place that I work at 😭😭😭

  7. Everyone seems to miss one obvious fact:

    >Approximately 35% of the Irish workforce works from home in some capacity.

That is way higher than most other countries. It’s about 18% in Europe

Introducing Return To Office mandates is all good in theory (I do think it should be flexible though, 3 in office and 2 WFH) but like most things here the introduction of policies has been half assed and not thought out. My office asks us to come in two days a week but has not delegated specific space for teams or introduced a booking system. So its just been a free for all of people sitting wherever they want even if people’s stuff is already at the desk.
