Zoroastrier folgen Zarathustra (Zoroaster), einem der frühesten bekannten Propheten der Welt, der um 1500 bis 1000 v. Chr. im alten Iran lebte. Ihre Religion, der Zoroastrismus, konzentriert sich auf den kosmischen Kampf zwischen Wahrheit (asha) und Falschheit (druj) und die Verehrung von Ahura Mazda, dem höchsten Gott. Es war die Staatsreligion mächtiger Reiche wie des Achämenidenreichs und des Sassanidenreichs und beeinflusste spätere Vorstellungen von Himmel, Hölle, Gericht und freiem Willen. Nach der islamischen Eroberung Persiens (dem heutigen Iran) wanderten viele Zoroastrier nach Indien aus, wo sie als Parsen bekannt wurden. Sie sind eine kleine, aber historisch gesehen eine der einflussreichsten Gemeinschaften Indiens.

I doubt India had more zoroastrians than Iran before the Safavids.
What is the source for this? I know it says „most“ but the UK is coloured and eg Australia, Singapore and Sweden not, while AFAIK they have roughly similar Zoroastrian populations. Especially as it’s not like the list goes on endlessly.
Also, Afghanistan might still have somewhat of a sizable population but for obvious reasons there’s absolutely no census of it. Although I also can believe most if not all of them have left the country (and that’s a euphemism).
