    >A source said the system replacing the EV mandate will allow manufacturers to earn credits by producing electric vehicles and carry over credits earned under the old electric vehicle mandate.

So a carbon credit system for cars?

    Edit:

    >Sources also say Ottawa is expected to bring back popular incentives for consumers purchasing EVs.

So EV incentive for customers and „ev credit“ for producer

Toyota was right. The world isn’t ready for EV just yet and hybrid is the logical stepping stone.

Too bad environmental groups threw a fit over their position.

  3. That 100% net vehicle sales target was nothing but a virtual signal under Trudeau. Nobody believed that target was realistic in 2023 when it was introduced…

  4. > cost of living crisis

    > Let’s maintain society so that Canadians continue to just burn money and resources away then having energy independence

I am wondering how the conservatives will twist this into something bad even though this is something they really wanted..just like with the carbon tax

Good. I just bought a gas car regardless but this is nice. Hopefully my next one can be gas also.

  7. Carney implements conservative agreements and policies; the liberal populace below “Carney is on a roll!! Carney is a genius”. Conservatives talk about these points “There are no rational conservatives left, all far right pieces of sh*t”! Canadian liberals are obsessed with their political identity

I wouldn’t have an issue with a Hybrid, but no chance I’m buying full electric.

IMO – skip full electric and focus on hydrogen.

F-150 has been the best selling vehicle in Canada for the last 15 years. It’s pretty clear most voters don’t give a f*ck.

Another foolish, misguided, ideologically-driven Trudeau era policy bites the dust. Good riddance to this one, it was stupid from the get go.

  11. > So, what does this mean for the cars you drive? Meeting California’s standards is no small feat. It demands serious cash for research and development for hybrid systems, electric vehicles (EVs), and cutting-edge engines that sip fuel. For Ford, Honda, Volkswagen, BMW, Aston Martin, and Volvo, these costs are locked in through 2026. That could mean pricier vehicles for buyers in California and its partner states, as automakers pass on the expense of compliance to customers.

    > For you, the consumer, it’s a mixed bag. Cars meeting California’s standards might save you money at the pump with better fuel economy or lower emissions. But upfront costs could sting, especially for budget-conscious buyers. If you live in a state following California’s rules, your car options might differ from those in, say, Texas or Ohio, where federal standards apply. It’s a patchwork market, and these six automakers are navigating it under stricter rules than their rivals.

The new rules will likely be along these lines. Lipstick on a pig.
