      * Prime Minister Mark Carney’s top security official says Ottawa expects the United States administration to stay out of Canada’s domestic politics.
      * When asked Tuesday if she viewed the U.S. as a potential threat to Canadian democracy, National Security and Intelligence Advisor Nathalie Drouin said the federal government is on guard against any threat to Canadian democracy, including the U.S.
      * “Canada has expectations with all countries, including the United States … (that) there should be no interference in our domestic affairs,” Drouin told a House of Commons committee. “And we have to look at the situation in an agnostic way; no country should be interfering in our domestic affairs.”
      * Her comments come after U.S. officials reportedly met with Alberta separatist campaigners, and after a member of U.S. President Donald Trump’s cabinet made public comments that appeared to encourage the independence movement.

      We’re being naïve if we think that ship hasn’t sailed. They were involved with the Freedom Convoy without a doubt. They have courted Danielle Smith and her party and I would suspect there has been influence on our Federal Conservatives based on their current Opposition Party tactics which mimic closely those of MAGA.

      What’s kind of shocking is that they’re only talking about Rath meeting with the Trump admin and discussing the line of credit now, when it’s been known for a while. Why did it take the FT article to bring attention to this?

      What one expects and what one gets are often two very different things.

      They don’t need to interfere directly… Aside from Alberta, when they can sic their corporate press allies, some with media IN Canada to help destabilize things.

      And of course three major social media platforms, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook controlled by allies.

      You just don’t know where to start when talking about how deep Trump has his nose in everybody’s business and how thin skinned he him self is. Doug Ford ran an ad critical of tariffs and fuckwit Trump hit the roof. And Trudeau once said Canada will not be muscled on trade and Trump blamed North Korean aggression on him.

      So their beef is the federal government failed to build a pipeline from Alberta to the west coast. How is gaining independence from Canada going to help making that happen?

      Last time Trump interfered in our politics it benefitted Carney immensely.

      Once our southern neighbours are in full control by Trump and his fascist regime I fully expect them to be a serious threat to our sovereignty

      The real problem is caused by heavily monetized streamers with sunglasses and “operator” beards that fan outrage for profit. Ban social media and the problems go away overnight. Or force them to pay humans to moderate content in Canada if they want to stay in business. If not, fuck em.

      Best they can do is systematically make sure we never excel at anything strategically important internationally so they can keep subjugating us. That is unless we sell them things for pennies on the dollar so they can pad their bottom line.

      i.e. Avro arrow, bombardier C series, Nortel, salt mines, O&G, nuclear, etc.
