> „We must preserve Canada, this country handed down to us by providence preserved by our ancestors and held in trust for our descendants. We must make any sacrifice necessary to preserve the independence and the unity of this blessed land,“ he said.
Anyone else think this is an extremely questionable, whitewashed telling of Canadian history? The dogs are definitely barking at a whistle.
There’s nothing for them to even fight about. They’re basically the same party now, just different leadership styles. Policy wise they are very similar. I understand PP wants Carney to be more accountable for the domestic issues we face but childish arguing will get us nowhere. I don’t have much faith in either party but there’s not going to be an election for at least another year probably so let’s cut the shit and at least try to fix this instead of just passing the blame bucket around
If you believe anything coming out of this guy’s mouth, you really shouldn’t be involved in politics.
The reason he is saying this is because Conservatives are on the defensive and know that they are going to lose an election.
They need to say this to pacify the population from any appetite for an election, which will indisputably remove PP from office.
So, what should we do?
Have an election and remove PP from office.
I would be less skeptical of Harper’s commitment to opposing such threats if he weren’t simultaneously implicitly endorsing them in his role as chairman of the IDU.
Why would other political parties trust cooperating with conservatives. Every Trump supporter in Canada is a conservative including a premier and many prominent CPC politicians and advisors.
Can we please stop pretending that Harper is some sort of unifying force for good? That guy was the most partisan PM this country has ever seem, and now he flies around the world promoting far-right authoritarian regimes. He can go away now.
