Best thing to do is leave them alone while they gather resources for a lawsuit

Help fund if you can / want

  2. Yeah released after being permanently traumatized. How horrible this happened. I’m so grateful that baby is finally going home.

I’m saddened to read the end of the article which states he and his family still need to leave the US. Hopefully they receive help from politicians and others who can make their transition better. That poor child.

  4. You should never use children to get a target regardless of situation , especially for non criminals

    This is insane

Absolutely depraved what has happened to this lovely little boy, just look at his little face, that is pure traumatism!

This should be ICEs and Republicans Elián González moment, but the media just isn’t up to it.

    From the article:

    >They had a *pending asylum case* but no order of deportation directing that they be removed from the United States, ABC News previously reported.

    >In the order releasing Liam and his father, Biery [the judge] said the case „has its genesis in the ill-conceived and incompetently-implemented government pursuit of *daily deportation quotas*, apparently even if it requires traumatizing children.“

This alone sheds light on the vast difference between *reasonable* immigration policy (respecting a pending asylum case] and what is–at least according to this judge–the ICE motivation for these aggressive approaches (daily deportation quotas).

Aren’t there like… laws about trafficking people across state lines?

We’re going to be spending so much on lawsuits from this fascist regime’s actions

Wow… So they actually followed the judge’s order and didn’t file some crazy emergency injunction to keep them in prison for another 2 months for no reason? I’m impressed.

  11. I’m very glad that this family can go back to their home and be reunited. However we should remember this one got a lot of press because of how abhorrent it looked, and a judge seeing the case had some righteous fury given the things DHS did to these people, but there are many more cases like this which did not receive as much attention. People are dying in ICE „detention facilities“ (concentration camps), and more children are still living in terrible conditions.

These detention facilities are intentionally run chaotically. They are defying court orders and claiming it is because of incompetence — incompetence which *DHS leadership is responsible for*.

You can’t just be like „Oh sorry we put a bunch of fucking idiots in charge of this facility and they don’t know how to make sure prisoners are fed and receiving medical treatment and keep records of who they are holding.“

It doesn’t fucking work like that. If you are going to hold prisoners then you are responsible for their care and if they die it is your fault. Our tax dollars are going towards these facilities and they’re killing people. All of these facilities should be shut down.

Can’t wait for ICE to show up at my house. I’m gonna make an example out of one of these animals. How have none of these traitors been sacrificed yet? Seeing as they’re immune from prosecution, ICE agents will need to be taught consequences from law-abiding citizens.

Imagine your own 5 year old “…detained on Jan. 20 by immigration agents shortly after arriving home from preschool.” and being flown to a Texas detention facility. Monsters.

Thank God. I read about the order but wasn’t sure they’d comply.

    Now do the rest.

  16. Whaaaat MAGA assured me that this man was violent criminal and child sexual predator! Surely they were just projecting for the 5,674,862,075th time!

  17. Muchado_aboutnothing on

I’m very glad they have been released. However, we should all remember that this is happening to so many other people (and children) in this country. This one got attention because of the heartbreaking photo of Liam, but there are thousands of other children having the same exact experience and who won’t be released because their faces and stories haven’t been shared. It’s horrible.

Holy shit, they actually listened to a judge’s order. Now the judges need to order the immediate release of EVERYONE in that and other camps.

They best leave this family alone, and I hope the family sues the absolute fuck out of ICE/the federal government.

Many others who have been held hostage by ICE after being transported to other states were released and had to pay for their own way back to their homes.

Why don’t we have lawyers compiling class action lawsuits against this?? I mean from everyone/anyone going through this.

  21. Short_Hat_4232 on

Makes me wonder how many future domestic terrorists all this crap created. Ain’t no way these kids/teens not getting mad a local authority in the future and doing nothing about. ICE just made the future of the US riddled with domestic attacks. mark my words.

All of these poor little children will be scarred by this trauma if they make it out. My heart breaks for them.

  23. perfectshade on

Everyone who yelled did their part it halting this wrong. „Nothing to be done until the midterms“ my ass.

  24. Lifelong trauma for all of these poor kids and parents. And who knows what’s happening to a lot of them on those hell holes.

I’m so relieved for them but sad and horrified for those who are still imprisoned.

  25. I hope all the other kidnapped kids can get released. Glad for this victory though, hope the family sues the fuck out of everybody

  26. No_Delivery_329 on

Arrest the ice thugs involved. They just traumatized a child for life. They need prison time.

  27. That’s a good bit of news. It’s still going to be an incredibly traumatic ordeal that affects the kid the rest of his life. I hope things turn around.
