In Hongkong meldeten zwei Japaner vorgestern einen Fall, bei dem ihnen vor einer Wechselstube im Stadtzentrum eine große Menge japanischer Yen gestohlen worden war. Die Polizei erklärte gestern, dass der gestohlene Betrag etwa 51 Millionen Yen betrug. Sie enthüllten auch, dass die beiden Angreifer Japaner waren.
Einer der Männer, die das Verbrechen angezeigt hatten, wurde festgenommen. Die Polizei ermittelt und geht davon aus, dass er möglicherweise Informationen an die kriminelle Gruppe weitergegeben hat.
Die Polizei gab außerdem bekannt, dass sie rund 11 Millionen Yen des gestohlenen Bargeldes sichergestellt habe, von denen einige bereits in andere Währungen umgetauscht worden seien.

Yeah this was such a wacky incident. The news analyst was speculating that the incident was a criminal ring where they buy gold in HK, sell it for JPY, and exchange JPY for HKD since HK has no consumption tax. This was due to both the victim and assailants were planning on flying to HK.
There was 2 related incidents the same day in Japan of someone at 12AM at Haneda airport parking lot was attempted to be robbed of some 1+M yen in cash, and someone getting hit by a car from the 1st crime scene.
There is always an insider isn’t it.
Reminds me of the Korean ministers Khmer tweets against those who ‚touch‘ Koreans in Cambodia. (Guesswhat, probably other Koreans!!) Actually its your own people you gotta be careful of.
I swear there are more news about Japanese robbing/scamming other people overseas than there are foreigners in Japan doing the same.
