I think Germany needs a reincarnation of De Gaulle to establish its sovereignty.

In light of recent events, it is genuinely odd that the United States maintains military bases in Europe with thousands of its own troops. This severely limits the sovereignty of the host countries.

We’ve probably all grown so accustomed to them that we fail to see just how much this restricts us—not only militarily but economically—and compels us to strictly follow the American path.

What’s that trashy website doing asking for money to reject cookies? The fuck?

How would Germany utilize the BX and commissary for it’s forces?

  6. I’ve heard that relocating all US soldiers in Europe would cost so much, it’s just not worth the effort. Which would mean, we’d be stuck with them forever…

Look, we don’t have to get rid of them *immediately*, because that’s simply not feasible or realistic. But we do need to develop a strategy for the mid or long term to move them out. We can’t have outside forces protecting our *own* soil anymore, people. It’s not just ridiculous and dangerous, but also fucking embarrassing.

This only *proves* we are weak. Saying we can’t do without the Americans *proves* we can’t do shit alone. Not just to Trump, but also to Putin and Xi.

    Do we really want that?

Loads of American bases in Europe are also used for non-European matters. We should begin with getting rid of those. There’s no no need to have them here.

  7. If ever (big if), given its importance, Ramstein would likely be one of the last US bases to go.

El Pais could probably look at when Spain could close the smaller US bases in their country.
