Maybe a little less money on naming EVERY SINGLE DAY something important we’re suppose to care about? I have no idea how to celebrate. Like two days ago the UN made a big deal about how it’s International Day of Peaceful Coexistence. But didn’t bother to condemn the recent round of bombings in Gaza. UN tries to fix things with finger painting, it’s pointless. Don’t get me wrong, the UN is important, but maybe they should focus on practical things.

  2. Perhaps the UN needs to move to a new home. Somewhere with a lower cost of living. There are many places in Africa that could qualify.

If the Magats, Putinescas and Xits get their way, the UN will be defunct within a decade.

  4. If the UN is openly warning about collapse, that’s a sign member states have been taking multilateral institutions for granted for too long…

  5. Look… I dislike how the UN is structured as much as the next guy.. but we need a UN.

Another example of Trump destroying something.

  6. Good. Commie bastard secretary general that cozy up to mass murderers like putin should lose their job. If they only cared about people in Ukraine, Sudan, Syria, etc other that all talk and absolutely nothing is done, useless , powerless, corrupt organization that must be abandoned. Just think about it, an organization that has a security council member attacking another country and not going punished for years

  7. UN has become a place for elites‘ gatherings to make party on the behalf of our taxes.

Its about time the dead horse is buried.

League of nations v2, rules by the victors.

  9. The UN is not going to collapse, some of your programs are going to run out of money,

    >He wrote in a letter to all 193 member states that they had to honour their mandatory payments or overhaul the organisation’s financial rules to avoid collapse.

    >It comes after the UN’s largest contributor, the US, refused to contribute to its regular and peacekeeping budgets, and withdrew from several agencies it called a „waste of taxpayer dollars“. Several other members are in arrears or are simply refusing to pay.

    >Then in January, Trump [withdrew it from dozens of international organisations](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp80ln97py5o), including 31 UN agencies, to „end American taxpayer funding and involvement in entities that advance globalist agendas over US priorities“.

    >In late December, the US pledged $2bn (£1.5bn) in funding for UN humanitarian programmes – warning the international organisation must „adapt or die“ – [a fraction of the $17bn it spent in 2022](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdj8jr37y98o).

    >Other countries, such as the UK and Germany, have also announced significant reductions in foreign aid, which will inevitably impact the UN’s work.

    >Guterres had warned earlier that same month that the UN faced its most fragile financial position in years – again citing unpaid fees – having said in October that it faced a „race to bankruptcy“.

It does mention the UN is cutting back some stuff, but I’d be interested to see what the UN thinks where going to lose.

The simple truth is the west doesn’t think this is a priority on spending. The UK for example is using the money to rebuild its armed forces due to the war in Ukraine.

This should have been expected. The US doesn’t want the UN to exist and Trump wants his board of peace to be the one making the decisions because it gives him more power and ensures the power remains under his thumb forever as he chooses his successor and that successor chooses and so on. It will be the biggest global scam imagined as they decide the fate of everyone else like cutting a cake. Bankrupting the UN is the fastest way to achieve his goals. I predict two things happening as the US goes down this path. Global inequity will reach a breaking point and eventually people will rise up and reset the issue. The odd lone gunman will become so many that nowhere will be safe.

    Good.

The limited amount of good the UN has achieved is grossly offset by it’s failures and naked corruption.

  12. On a civilisational timescale, we are already in the collapse stage as a society. It’s unfolding before our eyes and people just choose to ignore it or deny it.

The US wanted hegemony. Driving funding for the UN and NATO was what they paid for it. If they don’t want to pay, they don’t get what they don’t pay for.

Tbf when your domestic situation changes you cant expect the same expenditures for foreign aid (which is also used hella questionable)

  15. As a Venezuelan, I think this is the moment, for us, to act and support the UN, the same way they have supported us thru the horrors of our regime.

    >I write this letter to express how worry we are for the situation of the UN. We hope the UN can find the solution of their differences within their members and find a suitable solution. u/mundotaku

Now, who wants to go to a bar and fuck some hookers in NY?

Maybe it’d be more relevant if it reflected the world in 2026 and not 1945

  17. Classic, they lost their pay pig so they need a new one. Where’s China? France? Germany ?

  18. Unfortunately the UN is a useless institution that needs to die and be replaced with something that isn’t just a puppet of the Russians.

Russia should never have been given the opportunity to assume the Soviet seat on the security council, that very seat now makes the UN irrelevant and useless.

The Soviet Union was the 2nd or 3rd largest economy on the planet before its collapse, and Russia isn’t even in the top 10, its lagging behind Mexico and Spain. Not to mention it has half the population of the USSR.

Let it go, its toothless now and a waste of money, just like the League of Nations that preceded it and failed to prevent WW2 because it was toothless and a waste of effort.

We know who created this scam; it’s not a big loss. It’s the indirect influence tool of the symbiotic parasites living off the backs of the U.S. and other states.

lol been saying this years with many countries in the UN have been nothing but voicing sht piece of bs

Like I can’t take them seriously anymore considering a nation of ABC has a gdp of potato can vote of something important while they country is like not paying the due or not enforcing their rule correctly at home

  21. BaronVonTitties on

Maybe this won’t be popular, but the US was funding an outsized portion of the budget to the tune of 22-25%. Why?

So Iran can chair the UN Human Rights Council?

Or so Saudi Arabia can chair the UN Commission on the Status of Women?

Or so Somalia can preside over the UN Security Council?

Or so China can block scrutiny of Uyghur abuse?

Or so China and Russia can block resolutions for Syria using chemical weapons?

Or so Russia can veto condemnation or enforcement actions because of their invasion of Ukraine?

Or so Iran can assume the presidency of the UN Conference on Disarmament?

Or so Iran and China can be on the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee?

What are we even doing?!? Can I see how we need a governing body like the UN? Sure. But in its current form it’s totally broken and ineffectual.

  22. Wait a minute…. „compounded by a rule that means it is refunding money it never received.“ Huh?
