    1. This story highlights the real harm nitrous oxide can cause: chronic use disrupted his B12, led to spinal damage, and left him unable to walk unaided. Parents need to know the risks and signs.

Chronic use. If it is banned we will have chronic use, and adulterants added making it even more unsafe for recreational users. Prohibition solves absolutely nothing.

The government (although it’s mostly Fine Gael insisting on it) having zero desire for any meaningful change in drug policy or strategy is getting tiring now. It’s time to live in the real world, and not in their fantasy land where prohibition makes a difference to anything.

Ireland has a massive, absolutely massive drug problem. Plenty of countries love cocaine, but it’s ingrained in the social fabric of Ireland at this point. They can’t stop supply and demand is off the charts.

But if you listen to them in the Oireachtas Committee, they talk as if it’s just a few more awareness campaigns that are needed, as if you tell people it’s bad they’ll stop doing it.

The Guards/government’s view on this will change once a teen dies from it – then you’ll get all the sympathy quotes from them.
