We didn’t need all of this to stop 9/11. 9/11 literally could of been stopped by mandating locking cockpit doors

Yes. The DHS was established during the Bush Jr’s administration as a knee jerk reaction to 9/11. It was given a lot of power to police the country with little oversight under the claim they were protecting Americans and their liberties. Problem was it was given power to investigate Americans and ignore their liberties with flimsy reasoning or evidence and represents when the U.S. government decided they can spy on its own citizens whenever they felt like it. Its continued existence is a hold over of the War on Terror and really should be dismantled and its resources be put into other departments that can do what it does with better control. It is and always been a rapid dog that the government can release whenever they want and needs to be gone.
Justice for all involved with the funding, authoring, implementation of Project 2025 is the ONLY way we heal!

DHS was one of Bush’s dumber ideas. And that’s saying something. This is the dumb mother fucker who thought invading Iraq would cause the whole middle east to democratize. Gave us the no-child left behind act so schools dumbed down curriculum and just taught to the test. Who flushed a budget surplus down the toilet with tax cuts for the rich and increasing military spending, while talking about „compassionate conservatism“ while cutting aide programs.

If the „lesser evil“ can’t meet the bar of abolishing the Gestapo, then they are too evil to vote for. Having a temporarily restrained Gestapo is not an acceptable outcome.
If the Democrats want to have a chance in the midterms, they HAVE to adopt this position. They WILL NOT win on „we’re marginally less evil than Hitler.“ They DIDN’T win on it last time. Every reputable poll is showing the Democrats are not getting a „Trump bump“ this time around like they did in 2018 and 2020. They *will not win the midterms* if they limp-dick their way through this crisis right the fuck now.
If the DNC’s only position is „wait until the midterms,“ then the midterms are already lost. A Dem that supports ICE is a Dem that isn’t worth the vote.
If I remember correctly, DHS was brought into being after the 9/11 attacks. 25 years ago. How is it’s mandate even any different than those of other 3 letter agencies, especially the FBI? Should never have been created in the first place and has certainly outlived its original purpose and has morphed into an arm of the new authoritarian state Trump and Project 2025 are creating.
While we’re at it let’s cancel the dozens of cop cities being built.

In February 2003, Americans protested and spoke out about the formation of the DHS, racial profiling, militarization of police, war and invasion of privacy after 911. The world joined us to try to stop a war about oil. A lot of the legal groundwork was laid by the Bush Jr. Administration.
