  1. >WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened Canada with a 50% tariff on any aircraft sold in the U.S., the latest salvo in his trade war with America’s northern neighbor as his feud with Prime Minister Mark Carney expands.

    >Trump’s threat posted on social media came after he threatened over the weekend to impose a 100% tariff on goods imported from Canada if it went forward with a planned trade deal with China. But Trump’s threat did not come with any details about when he would impose the import taxes, as Canada had already struck a deal.

    >In Trump’s latest threat, the Republican president said he was retaliating against Canada for refusing to certify jets from Savannah, Georgia-based Gulfstream Aerospace.

    >Trump said the U.S., in return, would decertify all Canadian aircraft, including its Bombardier. “If, for any reason, this situation is not immediately corrected, I am going to charge Canada a 50% Tariff on any and all Aircraft sold into the United States of America,” Trump said in his post.

Another day. Another tariff. That’s the only play the Americans have. The world is moving on.. I feel embarrassed for Americans that this is what their government is now. ICE and tariffs

He has absolutely no idea just many Dash 8s are propping up the regional aviation network.

  5. >Trump said the U.S., in return, would decertify all Canadian aircraft, including its Bombardier.

Im sure the CEOs, Music people, Billionaires and Athletes will all love being grounded. There’s something like 2500 Bombardier private jets in the States.

  6. I used to think that there were checks and balances in the US system of government. Now we see their national policies changing according to the whims of one man and his closest advisors. Congress and the judiciary are not impeding him at all.

  7. I guess the Americans have to pay 50% tariff to the US government for aircrafts that don’t shit the bed every now and then.

These reruns are getting old. Like should be put in a nursing home old.

So just to be clear, this is because transport Canada won’t certify some Gulfstream planes. So, threats rather than addressing the potential issues with the aircraft. That seems on point for Trump.

  10. From the relationship CNN article: „It is unclear whether Trump has the legal authority to decertify aircraft; the White House has not released an executive order on any Canadian aircraft tariffs. Trump did not specify any mechanisms to decertify the planes in his post.“

    Lulz

  11. Hmmm I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that Gulfstreams parent company, General Dynamics, gave Trump over $70k in campaign contributions, and donated over $324,000 to 67 of the 147 Republicans who voted against certifying the 2020 election.

As usual, Trump the corrupt does favors for his rich friends at the cost of the American people.

Proving the exact reason why American is not a reliable trading partner. Who would make a deal with Mr. ThinSkin who changes his mind every other month. That’s not stable for any economy. We are moving on…. 🇨🇦

  13. „[Trump] said he was retaliating against Canada for refusing to certify jets from Savannah, Georgia-based Gulfstream Aerospace.“ The business jet has FAA and EASA (European) approval, and is waiting on Canadian approval. Canadian approval typically takes longer than FAA or EASA approval.

  14. Americans really are fucking stupid. 50% tariff for what reason? Canadian PM did a speech that got applause? Seriously??

  15. Every day the headline is the same.

    Trump threatens <insert country> with <insert amount>% tariffs on <insert random item> due to <insert cry baby reason>
