There’s little signs like this popping up in different parts of the country indicating that the issue with international students is starting to be addressed.

Colleges here in Ontario saw a massive decrease in enrolments from international students in 2025, causing a lot of these “diploma mill” colleges to currently struggle financially.

Very glad this is happening as this was one thing I was skeptical the federal government would really act on.

It’s a 40yr old College, If 1 year loss of International Students is shutting it down, it was destined to be shut down years ago.

It is a shame Manitoba really needs to grow it’s post secondary offerings, but they do need to be mostly sufficient from Canadian enrollment and offer things that will help people create opportunities for themselves.

    3. Ontario jumped fully on board the idea of recruiting foreign students to avoid public funding. I haven’t seen if Manitoba did the same thing as a way of shirking their responsibilities. If they did, it is the government of Manitoba which whould be blamed for this situation. If they want to solve the problem, they can resume an adequate level of funding.
