I don’t have any problems with it.
Why should I?
I mean, I’ll wait to see what happens before I start consuming it personally but cultivating animal cells in vitro is definitely a real thing we’ve been doing for a while.
The first big one to hit the market was in 1990 when we started producing rennet from bioengineered bacteria cultures for making dairy products. Rennet was traditionally made from the stomach lining of the 4th stomach of calves (part of why veal is/was a thing, they needed the stomach to make cheese).
We’ve definitely improved in our methods in the last 35+ years, I just won’t be one of the test subjects personally.
We are so removed from our food and where it comes from. As a Chef I do like this.
Yet another reason to be Amish. With the way things are going, I might need to sell my phone and buy a straw hat pretty soon.
I’m conflicted. Part of me likes the idea solely because of zoonotic diseases and how much the meat industries contribute to them. But I’m also concerned there may be consequences of lab grown meat that the public is not aware of and will never be allowed to be made aware of. It’s sad because if research was done, done honestly, and shared freely, my doubts could be put to rest and I could fully support it (or not).
Stick to the OG ways if you wish to eat plant based/Vegan/Vegetarian; black bean burgers, lentil burgers, fermented soybeans, falafel. They’re really easy to make and you know what ingredients you have in your food.
It’s an abomination. It’s basically cancer. Ban it.
We all should have the right to choose and use our discernment. That being said that’s a no from me boyz!
I prefer cutting my dick and eating it
They’re going to control our life expectancy if they haven’t already.
I mean. Do you think modern meat animals are natural? LOL. They are all genetically modified, beef cows don’t exist in the wild, nor pigs, nor chickens. Never did.
im a vegetarian , so like the idea of people not killing more animals, but i wouldn’t. eat this. don’t trust them, seems unhealthy to boot.
It is the future whether we want it or not. The current system is not sustainable and we are going to have no choice but to eat lab grown meat, bugs, algae, etc There is simply no other way to feed the masses.
Gross. 🤮 meat not from animal that we have to pump full of antibiotics because they are sick all the time from the conditions we keep them in.
All the universe is just chemicals and math. Our tendency to freak out about artificial versus natural is irrational. Cheetos are artificial. Poop is natural. Between the two, I’ll eat the Cheetos, thank you very much.
If it tastes right and they can be transparent on the ingredients and process, I have no objection.
His name is literally Mr. Beast
If a corporation could make a joint of meat that had no side effects for $5.61 or one that produced side effects for $5.60, the second one will win every time even though they’ll have to pay lawyers $millions to stop from being sued.
