It *has* been a bit overwhelming. Brenda Locke has to be the least admired mayor in the country, and the absurd situation with the police transition has been a continuous public embarrassment for the whole city. But this has become a quite serious problem. If the business community in Surrey is forced to surrender to a protection racket, it won’t end there. We’ll have to hope what Ottawa can spare will be enough, because if this isn’t nipped in the bud, this problem is going to grow and spread for so long as it turns a profit.

  2. I feel there’s significant details in these stories that we aren’t getting. A lot of these places being targeted are already involved in underhand activity, which is why they’re so reluctant to co-operate with authorities, and you get a whole bunch of claims that they have no clue who shot up their house.

I know there was one place near me where this happened, and all the media reported it as an „honest upstanding business“ that was targeted, but that was just a front and the place was actually a drug den.
