  1. With how things are going for him, it seems like his own party might soon make him distance himself from 10 Downing as well.

I had hopes that Starmer would be better but man he is just a big ass kisser.

  3. Starmer probably still thinks the UK is a great power, rather than a middle power

  4. RefrigeratorOk648 on

Since leaving the EU the UK as isolated itself so it has to rely on the „Special relationship“ aka be the lapdog to the US.

Keir Starmer is the worst UK prime minister in a very long time and that is saying something when those guys have had Liz Truss and Boris Johnson as their PMs in not so recent past. He faps to Trump’s pics every day and listens to Trump ’s speeches every night before sleep. Fucking spineless arsehole.

Starmer has been kicking own goals ever since becoming PM. Carney should be relieved if theyre not on the same team.

This guy also went out of his way to try and stop investigations into immigrant grooming gangs in the UK.

    >I’m a pragmatist, a British pragmatist applying common sense.

It was literally the most pragmatic speech with a big dose of common sense.

  9. Carney’s speech was immensely pragmatic and grounded.

Trying to appease the unappeasable and wishing the US had not suddenly done a hard heel turn is not. „Nostalgia is not a strategy.“

I *wish* Canada had the economy, military resources, and distance from America that the UK enjoys.

Brits will hide on their island as the world burns. King Charles better step up again.

In 6 months this soft clown won’t be employed most likely. Trading his countries sovereignty for a few weeks of peace until trump goes on the next offensive gets You nothing. You can fight trump and USA imperialism together or fight your own smaller battles by yourself. He should feel shame for not standing next to Canada in these times as Canada has done when they needed us.

  12. Wow. And runs off to china to try to secure a little side gig? Not sure who’s global team he is on. This reads weak. Let’s see.

Wow, isn’t UK supposed to be the most closely aligned with Canada. I’m not surprised but super disappointed by starmers spineless comments. I mean, he was always a spineless so I guess this tracks. I hope he gets voted out this year.

During parts of that speech I thought Carney was impliedly calling out Starmer!

  15. Potential-Let2475 on

I believe Carney’s speech was just as much directed to the UK as it was trump. What was it he said along the lines of we must stop competing for favour and work together. From day one of the trump administration Starmer has retreated from alliance with Canada, never spoke up with conviction regarding annexing Canada or stepped I. To offer support in trade deals and instead doubled down on making sure he is appeasing the trump administration. Wait! Starmer really told trump off the other day regarding their role Afghanistan. You tell him Starmer. Pathetic PoS

The UK is also a raging cesspool so their opinion is fairly irrelevant

  17. No Surprise here.. remember the comment from WH during his visit when asked about 51st state

*Starmer was asked whether he or King Charles III was concerned about Trump’s rhetoric toward a Commonwealth member at the end of a visit to the White House that included multiple meetings on issues like trade and the war in Ukraine.*

*The British leader said the topic of Canada did not come up during those talks and sought to highlight the historic friendship between the United Kingdom and United States.*

*“I think you’re trying to find a divide between us that doesn’t exist,” Starmer said.*

Interesting that he is following Carney’s travel plan to China. I wonder if he will come home with the same success.

  19. Spiritual-Pain-961 on

I wondered if Starmer was gutless. This proves it.

    What a spineless coward.

What is it with British leaders? One Churchill and a bunch of Chamberlains.

    For shame.

  20. It’s what Carney said. You can band together or suck up to Trump, I guess Starmer likes sucking up.

  21. manniesalado on

I’m so fed up with the British right now I cannot even tell you. The way His Highness and the PM kissed Trump’s ass a few months age while Trump is trying to terrorize their Canadian subjects was contemptible, and for me Canada needs to cut all ties with those treacherous British.

  22. Cognitive_Offload on

Because the Prime Minister of England, Keir Starmer, he is the Neville Chamberlain of our times. Canada, with Carney, shapes itself. We don’t need England.

  23. Oh, I suppose Starmer still thinks he can negotiate, placate, and wait out Trump. Perhaps he can, but Carney obviously gets that when the „off“ switch finally kicks that there’s still the problem of 75 million Trump voters, addled to the max ready to find another daddy.

It’s time to move on. Maybe from Starmer, too.

  24. chipstastegood on

I bet the British still feel they’re one of the Great Powers and feel that Carney’s “Middle Powers” are beneath them. They don’t align with Carney’s speech because they think they’re better than us
